Go to:
http://pcool.scholastic.com/parentordering/login.jsp?ESP=SBC/ib//acq/pcool_slimnav_Parents///nav/txtl//// ![]() AR READING INCENTIVE PROGRAMFourth graders will be participating in Accelerated Reader, a reading incentive program used to encourage children to read, read, read. The program allows students to independently read AR books (identified with blue dots in our school library) and then take a computerized comprehension quiz. Students earn AR points for each quiz they pass (80% or higher). Each student will develop an individual point goal each quarter. This quarter students must earn at least 9 points, though many set their goal even higher than that! You can see if the book your child is reading at home is an AR book by going to the reading folder under the class links section on this page.
![]() READING LOGTo increase fluency and comprehension your student should be reading books on their independent reading level at least 20 minutes per day Monday through Thursday and one day on the weekend. Students will record the date, title of book, the number of pages read, and the type of reading material (book, magazine, newspaper, etc) on their reading log. Please confirm completion of the nightly reading by SIGNING the reading log every day. Reading logs are checked Monday mornings. If your child forgets or loses their reading log, please go to the READING folder below and print out a replacement log to record the information. To further support your child, ask your student to make predictions, to briefly summarize, to identify main ideas, to draw conclusions, and to locate answers in the text to basic comprehension questions.
![]() JamestownWe had a fabulous field trip to Jamestown on Wednesday. The weather was perfect, the children were involved and well behaved, and our guide was very informative. Thanks again to our chaperones Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Pesso, Mrs. Yeboah-Kodie, Mr. Steel, Mr. Hunt, and Mr. Kline for helping to make this a wonderful learning experience!
